Celebrate the 4th of July with festive, easy-to-make cupcakes decorated in red, white, and blue.

- 1 box (15.25 ounces) white cake mix
- 1 ¼ cups water
- â…“ cup vegetable oil
- 3 large egg whites
- Red and blue food coloring
- 1 can (16 ounces) vanilla frosting
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Beat cake mix, water, oil, and egg whites in a large bowl on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Divide batter into three smaller bowls. Leave the first bowl plain. Add red food coloring to the second bowl and blue food coloring to the third bowl. Mix each color until evenly distributed.
- Spoon alternating colors of batter into each cupcake liner, filling about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cupcakes cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cool, frost cupcakes with vanilla frosting.
- Top with red, white, and blue sprinkles.
Notes
- For vibrant colors, use gel food coloring.
- Do not overmix the batter after adding the food coloring.
- Ensure cupcakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
