Description
Make crispy fried pickles in your air fryer with less oil. This recipe uses a seasoned breading to create a satisfying crunch, perfect for a quick snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (16 ounce) jar dill pickle slices, drained and patted dry
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- Cooking spray or 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Ranch dressing or dipping sauce of your choice, for serving
Instructions
- Pat the pickle slices very dry with paper towels. Excess moisture will prevent them from getting crispy.
- In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
- In another shallow dish, combine the panko breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese (if using).
- In a third shallow dish, beat the eggs.
- Dredge each pickle slice in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the floured pickle slice into the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off.
- Press the pickle slice firmly into the panko mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Repeat with all pickle slices.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Arrange the breaded pickle slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd it. You may need to cook in batches.
- Lightly spray the pickles with cooking spray or drizzle with a small amount of olive oil.
- Air fry for 8-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer.
- Serve immediately with ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can double-coat the pickles by repeating the egg and panko steps.
- If you do not have an air fryer, you can bake these in an oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Make sure your pickles are as dry as possible before breading; this is key for crispiness.
- Adjust seasonings to your preference. Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little heat.
