Description

Enjoy these delicious baked apple cider donuts. They’re easy to make and perfect for a cozy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a donut pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the apple cider, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.
  8. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. While the donuts are cooling, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, powdered sugar, and apple cider until smooth.
  10. Once the donuts are completely cool, dip them into the glaze or drizzle the glaze over the tops.
  11. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

Notes

  • For a stronger apple flavor, you can reduce the apple cider by 1 tablespoon and add 1 tablespoon of unsweetened applesauce to the batter.
  • If you don’t have a donut pan, you can bake these in muffin tins. Adjust baking time as needed.
  • Store cooled donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
