Description
Wrap fresh asparagus in crispy bacon for an easy, delicious low-carb side dish or appetizer. It’s elegant enough for guests but simple enough for a weeknight.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
- 8 slices bacon
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for pan-frying)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If pan-frying, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Wash and trim the tough ends off the asparagus spears.
- Cut the bacon slices in half crosswise.
- Wrap each bacon half around a few asparagus spears, securing the end of the bacon. You should have about 16 bundles.
- Place the bundles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (for oven baking) or in the hot skillet (for pan-frying).
- Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is tender-crisp. If pan-frying, turn the bundles occasionally until the bacon is cooked through and crisp, about 10-15 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a touch of sweetness, you can add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup to the bacon before wrapping.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to your seasoning.
- Ensure your asparagus is fresh for the best texture.
