Description

A simple recipe for cheesy, saucy buffalo chicken sliders baked in the oven using slider buns.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound cooked, shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls or slider buns
  • 1 cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons ranch or blue cheese dressing (optional drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, buffalo wing sauce, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until the chicken is fully coated.
  3. Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves intact as much as possible. Place the bottom halves of the rolls in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Distribute the buffalo chicken mixture evenly over the bottom layer of rolls.
  5. Top the chicken mixture evenly with the shredded Pepper Jack cheese and cheddar cheese.
  6. Place the top halves of the rolls over the cheese layer.
  7. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes covered.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops of the rolls are lightly golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven. Slice the sliders apart between the rolls. Drizzle with ranch or blue cheese dressing and sprinkle with fresh parsley, if desired, before serving hot.

Notes

  • Hawaiian rolls work well for a slightly sweet contrast to the spicy sauce. You can also use plain slider buns.
  • For extra flavor, brush the tops of the assembled sliders with a mixture of melted butter, a dash of garlic powder, and a pinch of poppy seeds before the final uncovered bake.
  • If you prefer more tang, add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to the chicken mixture.
