Description
A simple recipe for cheesy, saucy buffalo chicken sliders baked in the oven using slider buns.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound cooked, shredded chicken
- 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls or slider buns
- 1 cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional garnish)
- 2 tablespoons ranch or blue cheese dressing (optional drizzle)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, buffalo wing sauce, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until the chicken is fully coated.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves intact as much as possible. Place the bottom halves of the rolls in the prepared baking dish.
- Distribute the buffalo chicken mixture evenly over the bottom layer of rolls.
- Top the chicken mixture evenly with the shredded Pepper Jack cheese and cheddar cheese.
- Place the top halves of the rolls over the cheese layer.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 15 minutes covered.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops of the rolls are lightly golden brown.
- Remove from the oven. Slice the sliders apart between the rolls. Drizzle with ranch or blue cheese dressing and sprinkle with fresh parsley, if desired, before serving hot.
Notes
- Hawaiian rolls work well for a slightly sweet contrast to the spicy sauce. You can also use plain slider buns.
- For extra flavor, brush the tops of the assembled sliders with a mixture of melted butter, a dash of garlic powder, and a pinch of poppy seeds before the final uncovered bake.
- If you prefer more tang, add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to the chicken mixture.
