Description
Crispy, healthy baked apple chips with a hint of cinnamon. A perfect snack alternative to traditional potato chips.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Gala work best)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Optional: 1-2 tablespoons granulated sugar or maple sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 225°F (107°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Core the apples and slice them as thinly as possible, ideally using a mandoline slicer for uniform thickness. Aim for slices about 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick.
- In a large bowl, gently toss the apple slices with cinnamon and sugar (if using) until evenly coated.
- Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. Make sure they do not overlap.
- Bake for 1 hour, then flip the apple slices. Continue baking for another 1 to 2 hours, or until the chips are dry and crisp. Baking time will vary depending on the thickness of your slices and your oven.
- Turn off the oven and leave the apple chips inside for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour as the oven cools. This helps them crisp up further.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack. The chips will become even crispier as they cool.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, ensure apple slices are very thin.
- Adjust cinnamon and sugar to your taste.
- Store apple chips in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
