Description

Make your own healthy and crispy cinnamon apple chips at home. These baked apple chips are a perfect snack, easy to make, and full of natural sweetness with a hint of spice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2-3 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala, or Granny Smith work well)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional: 1-2 tablespoons granulated sugar or maple syrup (for extra sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Using a mandoline slicer or a very sharp knife, carefully slice the apples into uniform 1/16-inch thick rounds. Discard the core pieces.
  3. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. Do not overlap them.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon with sugar (if using). Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture evenly over the apple slices.
  5. Bake for 1 hour, then flip each apple slice. Continue baking for another 1 to 2.5 hours, or until the chips are completely dry and crispy. The total baking time will vary depending on your oven and the thickness of your apple slices.
  6. Turn off the oven and leave the apple chips inside for another 30 minutes to cool and crisp up further.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack before storing.

Notes

  • For best results, use a mandoline to get consistently thin slices, which helps them crisp up evenly.
  • If your chips are not fully crisp after cooling, you can put them back in a low oven for a bit longer.
  • Store the cooled apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • Different apple varieties will yield slightly different flavors and textures. Experiment to find your favorite!
