Description
Make perfect, crispy Baked Garlic Parmesan Wings for your game day gathering. These wings are easy to prepare and deliver big flavor without the mess of deep frying. Follow these steps for crispy skin and a savory coating.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
- 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free recommended for best crisping)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a wire rack set inside the baking sheet.
- Pat the chicken wings very dry using paper towels. This step is crucial for crispy skin.
- In a large bowl, toss the dried wings with baking powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet or rack. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through the cooking time, until they are golden brown and very crisp.
- While the wings bake, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn. Remove from heat.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted garlic butter with the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.
- Once the wings are cooked through and crispy, transfer them to a large clean mixing bowl.
- Pour the garlic Parmesan sauce over the hot wings. Toss gently until every wing is well coated.
- Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, place a wire rack on top of your baking sheet before arranging the wings.
- If you do not have baking powder, you can skip it, but the texture will be less crispy.
- Use fresh Parmesan cheese for the best melting and flavor. Pre-grated cheese often contains anti-caking agents that prevent smooth melting.
- If your sauce seems too thick after mixing in the cheese, add an extra teaspoon of melted butter to loosen it slightly.
