Description
Make crispy shrimp coated in a sweet, spicy, and creamy Bang Bang sauce served over cooked noodles.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 12 ounces egg noodles or ramen noodles
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon honey or sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 green onions, sliced, for garnish
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. In a shallow dish, mix the flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. In a second dish, place the beaten egg. In a third dish, place the cornstarch.
- Dredge each shrimp first in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg, and finally coat thoroughly in the cornstarch. Set aside on a plate.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the shrimp in batches for 3 to 4 minutes, turning once, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove shrimp with a slotted spoon and drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
- While the shrimp cooks, cook the noodles according to package directions. Drain the noodles and set aside.
- Prepare the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, and water until smooth.
- Add the crispy shrimp to the sauce bowl and gently toss until all pieces are evenly coated.
- Add the cooked noodles to the bowl with the sauced shrimp. Toss gently to combine and coat the noodles with any remaining sauce.
- Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onions.
Notes
- For extra crispy shrimp, you can double-coat the shrimp by dipping them back into the egg and cornstarch after the first fry, then frying again briefly.
- Adjust the amount of sriracha in the sauce to control the heat level for your preference.
- If using ramen, discard the seasoning packet.
