Description

Make this classic, creamy, and crunchy broccoli salad. It is simple to prepare and perfect for potlucks, BBQs, or as a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds, toasted
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the broccoli florets, crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and chopped red onion. Set aside.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and Dijon mustard until smooth. This is your dressing.
  3. Pour the dressing over the broccoli mixture. Toss gently until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to your preference.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a tangier dressing, increase the apple cider vinegar by one tablespoon.
  • Toast the sunflower seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant for better flavor.
  • You can prepare the salad dressing up to two days ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.
