Description
Make this classic, creamy, and crunchy broccoli salad. It is simple to prepare and perfect for potlucks, BBQs, or as a side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds, toasted
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries
- 1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the broccoli florets, crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and chopped red onion. Set aside.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and Dijon mustard until smooth. This is your dressing.
- Pour the dressing over the broccoli mixture. Toss gently until all ingredients are evenly coated.
- Season with salt and pepper to your preference.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a tangier dressing, increase the apple cider vinegar by one tablespoon.
- Toast the sunflower seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant for better flavor.
- You can prepare the salad dressing up to two days ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.
