Description
These Big Mac Smash Tacos combine the classic flavors of a Big Mac into an easy-to-make smash taco. Thin burger patties are smashed onto tortillas, cooked until crispy, and then topped with a tangy special sauce, fresh lettuce, pickles, and cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped dill pickle
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 4 slices American cheese, quartered
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/2 cup finely diced white onion
- 1/4 cup dill pickle slices
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Cooking oil (for the griddle/pan)
Instructions
- Prepare the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, finely chopped dill pickle, white vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well and set aside.
- Form the Patties: Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions (about 2 ounces each). Roll each portion into a loose ball.
- Heat the Griddle: Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of cooking oil.
- Smash the Tacos: Place a beef ball onto a tortilla. Place the beef-side down onto the hot griddle. Immediately use a spatula or a burger press to firmly smash the beef onto the tortilla, creating a thin, even layer. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the Beef: Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is browned and crispy.
- Add Cheese and Flip: Place two quartered slices of American cheese on top of the cooked beef. Carefully flip the taco so the tortilla side is now on the griddle. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until the tortilla is lightly golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted.
- Assemble the Tacos: Transfer the cooked Big Mac Smash Tacos to a plate.
- Garnish: Top each taco with shredded iceberg lettuce, diced white onion, a few dill pickle slices, and a generous drizzle of the prepared special sauce.
- Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Big Mac Smash Tacos!
Notes
- Use a heavy-duty spatula or a clean, flat bottomed pan to smash the beef.
- Don’t overcrowd your pan; cook in batches if necessary.
- Adjust the amount of special sauce and toppings to your liking.
- For extra crunch, toast the tortillas lightly before smashing the beef on them.
