Description
Make a fast, flavorful dinner using cabbage and smoked sausage cooked quickly in one skillet with a simple Dijon glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
- 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced sausage and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until lightly browned. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the sliced onion to the same skillet and cook for 2 minutes until softened.
- Add the sliced cabbage, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook, stirring often, for 4 to 5 minutes until the cabbage wilts and tenderizes slightly.
- Return the cooked sausage to the skillet.
- Stir in the apple cider vinegar and Dijon mustard until everything is coated. Cook for 1 minute more to heat through.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use pre-cooked smoked sausage to meet the 15-minute time goal.
- Slice the cabbage and onion very thinly to speed up cooking time.
- For a low-carb option, omit any added sugar and stick to the mustard and vinegar for flavor.
