  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish


Instructions

  1. Bring water and milk to a boil in a medium saucepan.
  2. Gradually whisk in grits.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  4. Stir in cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and butter until melted and smooth.
  5. Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
  6. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and cooked through.
  8. Spoon grits into bowls.
  9. Top with sautéed shrimp.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley.

  • For extra creamy grits, use half milk and half heavy cream.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning to your spice preference.
