Description
Make delicious candied pecans at home. These sweet, crunchy nuts are perfect for snacking, salads, or desserts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large egg white
- 1 teaspoon water
- 1 pound pecan halves
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the egg white and water until foamy.
- Add the pecan halves to the bowl and toss until evenly coated.
- In a separate small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the pecans and toss again until the pecans are well coated.
- Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure even browning.
- Remove the pecans from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. They will become crispier as they cool.
- Store the candied pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- Ensure the pecans are in a single layer on the baking sheet for even cooking.
- Stirring the pecans during baking prevents them from sticking together and promotes even crisping.
- Allow the pecans to cool completely before storing to maintain their crunch.
