Description

Make delicious candied pecans at home. These sweet, crunchy nuts are perfect for snacking, salads, or desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 pound pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg white and water until foamy.
  3. Add the pecan halves to the bowl and toss until evenly coated.
  4. In a separate small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the pecans and toss again until the pecans are well coated.
  6. Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure even browning.
  8. Remove the pecans from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. They will become crispier as they cool.
  9. Store the candied pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Ensure the pecans are in a single layer on the baking sheet for even cooking.
  • Stirring the pecans during baking prevents them from sticking together and promotes even crisping.
  • Allow the pecans to cool completely before storing to maintain their crunch.
