Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound pecan halves
- 1 large egg white
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the egg white and water until frothy.
- Add the pecan halves to the egg white mixture and toss until they are evenly coated.
- In a separate small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt.
- Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the pecans and toss again until the pecans are well coated.
- Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring every 10-15 minutes, until the pecans are golden brown and crunchy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet. The pecans will become crispier as they cool.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or allspice to the sugar mixture.
- Ensure pecans are spread in a single layer for even baking and crispiness.
- Cooling completely is key for the candied coating to harden properly.
