Description

Enjoy these delightful Cardamom Apple Fritters, a perfect treat that combines the warmth of cardamom with sweet apple pieces, all in a crispy, golden-fried package. They’re like a hug in every bite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup diced apples (about 1 medium apple)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cardamom, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Gently fold in the diced apples.
  5. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully drop rounded tablespoons of the batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
  7. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a wire rack set over paper towels to drain.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure your oil is at the correct temperature before frying; too cool and the fritters will be greasy, too hot and they will burn before cooking through.
  • Feel free to add a pinch of cinnamon along with the cardamom for an extra layer of spice.
  • These fritters are best enjoyed fresh, still warm from the fryer.
