Description
Create a warm and comforting homemade Chai Spice Latte with real spices. This recipe is perfect for a cozy day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons chai concentrate (or 1 tablespoon loose leaf black tea)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- Pinch of ground cloves
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1-2 teaspoons sugar or honey, to taste
- Optional: Whipped cream and extra cinnamon for topping
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the water and chai concentrate (or loose leaf tea).
- Add the cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Let it simmer for 5 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
- Strain the liquid into a mug, discarding the tea leaves if using loose leaf.
- Add the milk and sweetener to the saucepan. Heat gently over medium-low heat until warm, but do not boil.
- Pour the warm milk mixture into the mug with the spiced tea.
- Stir well to combine.
- Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired.
Notes
- For a stronger chai flavor, use more chai concentrate or steep the loose leaf tea for an extra minute.
- Adjust the spices to your preference. You can add more or less of each spice.
- If you don’t have all the individual spices, you can use 1 teaspoon of pre-made chai spice blend.
- This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled.
