Description

Make this Cheesy Pull-Apart Garlic Bread for your next gathering. It is simple to prepare and yields maximum cheesy pull factor, perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf (about 16 ounces) French or Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined. This is your garlic butter.
  3. Take the loaf of bread and cut it into 1-inch thick slices, cutting all the way through the bottom crust, but do not cut the bottom crust completely apart. You want the slices to stay connected at the bottom.
  4. Gently spread the garlic butter mixture over the exposed cut surfaces of the bread, trying to get some into each slice.
  5. Generously stuff the shredded mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese into the crevices between the slices. Pack it in well for the best pull.
  6. Wrap the entire loaf tightly in aluminum foil.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes wrapped in foil. This steams the bread and melts the cheese.
  8. Carefully unwrap the loaf, keeping the bottom intact. Return the bread to the oven, unwrapped, for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese on top is bubbly and lightly golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving directly from the baking sheet. Guests can pull their own cheesy slice.

Notes

  • Use good quality, soft bread for the best texture.
  • You can prepare the butter mixture and stuff the bread ahead of time; store it wrapped in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
  • If you like extra garlic flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder to the butter mixture.
