Description
Make this Cheesy Pull-Apart Garlic Bread for your next gathering. It is simple to prepare and yields maximum cheesy pull factor, perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf (about 16 ounces) French or Italian bread
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined. This is your garlic butter.
- Take the loaf of bread and cut it into 1-inch thick slices, cutting all the way through the bottom crust, but do not cut the bottom crust completely apart. You want the slices to stay connected at the bottom.
- Gently spread the garlic butter mixture over the exposed cut surfaces of the bread, trying to get some into each slice.
- Generously stuff the shredded mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese into the crevices between the slices. Pack it in well for the best pull.
- Wrap the entire loaf tightly in aluminum foil.
- Bake for 15 minutes wrapped in foil. This steams the bread and melts the cheese.
- Carefully unwrap the loaf, keeping the bottom intact. Return the bread to the oven, unwrapped, for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese on top is bubbly and lightly golden brown.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving directly from the baking sheet. Guests can pull their own cheesy slice.
Notes
- Use good quality, soft bread for the best texture.
- You can prepare the butter mixture and stuff the bread ahead of time; store it wrapped in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
- If you like extra garlic flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder to the butter mixture.
