Description

Transform leftover chocolate babka into a delightful bread pudding. This recipe is easy, comforting, and perfect for using up delicious babka.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cubed chocolate babka (about 1 lb loaf)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange the cubed babka in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with chocolate chips if using.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the milk mixture evenly over the babka cubes in the baking dish, ensuring all pieces are moistened. Gently press down any pieces that float to the top.
  5. Let the mixture sit for about 15-20 minutes to allow the babka to soak up the liquid.
  6. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted near the center should come out mostly clean.
  7. Let the bread pudding cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can serve this warm with whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
  • If your babka is very fresh, you might need to let it soak a little longer.
  • Feel free to add other mix-ins like nuts or berries.
