Description
Learn how to make delicious chocolate-dipped strawberries, a simple and sweet treat perfect for romantic occasions or parties. This easy recipe uses minimal ingredients and steps for a delightful homemade dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh strawberries
- 8 ounces semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening or coconut oil (optional, for smoother melting)
Instructions
- Wash strawberries gently and pat them completely dry with paper towels. Ensure they are thoroughly dry to help the chocolate adhere.
- Place chocolate chips and shortening (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
- Hold each strawberry by the stem or leaves and dip it into the melted chocolate, coating about two-thirds of the way up.
- Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
- Place the dipped strawberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper.
- If desired, you can drizzle extra melted chocolate over the dipped strawberries for decoration.
- Chill the strawberries in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is set.
Notes
- Use good quality chocolate for the best flavor.
- For a glossy finish, add a teaspoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to the chocolate before melting.
- If you don’t have a microwave, you can melt the chocolate using a double boiler.
- Store dipped strawberries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
