Ingredients
Scale
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Prepare your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s directions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.
- For the topping, mix the 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon thoroughly in a shallow dish.
- Pour the batter into the hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown and crisp.
- Immediately transfer the hot waffle to a wire rack placed over a baking sheet.
- Generously sprinkle the top of the hot waffle with the cinnamon sugar mixture, pressing lightly so it adheres.
- Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, brush the waffle iron plates lightly with oil before adding the batter.
- If you prefer a thinner batter, add one or two extra tablespoons of milk.
- You can use leftover cinnamon sugar mixture on toast or coffee later.
