Description

Make crispy, sweet banana chips quickly using your air fryer with this simple cinnamon sugar coating recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 firm green bananas
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil, melted

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and slice them thinly, about 1/8 inch thick. Uniform thickness helps them cook evenly.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, toss the banana slices with the melted coconut oil and lemon juice. This helps the coating stick and prevents browning.
  4. Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overlap them; work in batches if necessary.
  5. Lightly sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the slices.
  6. Air fry at 325°F (160°C) for 8 minutes.
  7. Carefully flip the slices. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over them.
  8. Continue to air fry for another 5 to 10 minutes, checking every 3 minutes, until the chips are golden brown and crisp.
  9. Remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up more as they cool.

Notes

  • For best results, use bananas that are still slightly green and firm. Ripe bananas tend to become soft or burn easily.
  • If your chips stick, lightly spray the basket with cooking spray before arranging the slices.
  • Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
