Description
Enjoy a simple yet elegant dessert with these Cinnamon Sugar Baked Pears. This recipe is perfect for a light, warm treat highlighting the natural sweetness of fall pears with a comforting blend of cinnamon and sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe pears (such as Bosc or Anjou)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the pears and slice them in half lengthwise. Use a spoon or melon baller to scoop out the core and seeds from each pear half.
- Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in a baking dish.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and salt.
- Spoon the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the cut surface of each pear half, pressing it gently to adhere.
- Add about 1/4 inch of water to the bottom of the baking dish. This helps create steam and keeps the pears moist.
- Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork. The baking time will vary depending on the ripeness and size of your pears.
- Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven.
- Serve the warm baked pears as is, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
- Choose pears that are ripe but still firm to the touch. Overripe pears can become too mushy when baked.
- If you don’t have fresh pears, you can try this recipe with apples.
- Feel free to add a splash of rum or brandy to the butter mixture for an adult twist.
