Description
Make simple, crispy cinnamon sugar pecans using five ingredients. This recipe yields a crunchy snack perfect for gifting or topping salads.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups pecan halves
- 1 large egg white
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, lightly whisk the egg white until it is slightly frothy.
- Add the pecans to the egg white and toss until the nuts are evenly coated.
- In a separate small bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the sugar mixture over the coated pecans. Toss gently until all the pecans are covered with the spice mixture.
- Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not let them touch.
- Bake for 30 minutes, stirring the pecans every 10 minutes to prevent burning and promote even crisping.
- Remove from the oven and let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool.
- Break apart any clusters before storing.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg white before coating the nuts.
- Store cooled pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- If you want a slightly buttery taste, add 1 tablespoon of melted butter to the egg white mixture.
