- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

- Add onion and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, V8 juice, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

- In a medium bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
- Layer with one-third of the mozzarella cheese.
- Spoon about one-third of the meat sauce over the mozzarella.
- Repeat layers: noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, sauce.
- Top with the remaining noodles, sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
- Cover baking dish with foil.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, let the meat sauce simmer for at least an hour.
- You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce for a little heat.
- If you don’t have V8 juice, you can substitute with an equal amount of water or beef broth.
