Description

This classic squash casserole recipe is a comforting, home-style side dish perfect for any meal. Made with simple ingredients like squash, sour cream, butter, and cheese, it’s easy to prepare and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs yellow squash, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced squash, sour cream, melted butter, beaten egg, chopped onion, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix everything together until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Top with bread crumbs.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly browned on top.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the mixture.
  • If you prefer a creamier casserole, you can use cream cheese instead of some of the sour cream.
