Description

This classic tuna pasta salad combines tender pasta, flaky tuna, creamy mayonnaise, and crisp vegetables for a refreshing and satisfying dish. It’s perfect as a chilled side or a light meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni or small shell pasta
  • 2 (5 ounce) cans tuna in water, drained
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cooled pasta, drained tuna, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, and thawed peas.
  3. Add fresh lemon juice and mix gently until all ingredients are well combined.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of dried dill or a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the dressing.
  • You can substitute Greek yogurt for some of the mayonnaise for a lighter version.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like diced bell peppers or shredded carrots.
