Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Combine the ketchup, honey, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and molasses in a small saucepan.
- Add the liquid smoke, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to the saucepan.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir the mixture constantly until it begins to simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to combine.
- Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool completely. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
- Transfer the finished sauce to an airtight container for storage.
Notes
- This sauce works well as a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets or tenders.
- Use this sauce as a glaze when grilling or baking chicken or pork.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
