Description

Make a thick, creamy, mint-green milkshake at home that tastes just like the classic fast-food version.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
  • 3-4 drops green food coloring (liquid or gel)
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • Maraschino cherry, for topping

Instructions

  1. Place the slightly softened vanilla ice cream, whole milk, vanilla extract, peppermint extract, and green food coloring into a high-powered blender.
  2. Start blending on low speed, gradually increasing to high speed. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and thick. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender jar.
  3. If the shake is too thick, add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached. If it is too thin, add one small scoop of extra ice cream and blend again briefly.
  4. Pour the milkshake into tall glasses.
  5. Top each serving generously with whipped cream.
  6. Place one maraschino cherry on top of the whipped cream. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For the most authentic flavor, use high-quality peppermint extract, as it provides the distinct mint note.
  • The amount of green food coloring needed depends on the brand; start with three drops and add more until you achieve the bright green color you want.
  • Softening the ice cream slightly helps the blender create a smoother texture without adding too much liquid.
