Description

This creamy tuna pasta recipe combines tender pasta with a rich, velvety sauce, perfect for a comforting meal. It is simple to make and uses common pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces pasta (penne, rotini, or shells work well)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (5 ounce) cans tuna in water, drained
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  4. Add drained tuna to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon.
  5. Pour in cream of mushroom soup and milk. Stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  6. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth.
  7. Add the cooked and drained pasta to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly with the creamy tuna sauce.
  8. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • You can substitute cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom soup.
  • Feel free to add frozen peas or corn during the last few minutes of cooking for added vegetables.
