Description
Make tender cabbage wedges with crispy edges using your air fryer. This simple recipe delivers a flavorful, crunchy vegetable side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium head green cabbage
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Remove any loose outer leaves from the cabbage head. Cut the cabbage into four equal wedges, keeping the core intact to hold the leaves together.
- In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Brush the oil mixture evenly over all sides of the four cabbage wedges.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 3 minutes.
- Place the cabbage wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
- Air fry for 12 minutes.
- Carefully flip the wedges. If using Parmesan, sprinkle half over the top of the wedges now.
- Continue to air fry for another 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are browned and crispy and the cabbage is tender when pierced with a fork.
- Remove from the air fryer. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese, if desired, before serving.
Notes
- If your wedges are very thick, you may need to add 2-3 minutes to the total cooking time.
- To prevent the wedges from blowing around in the air fryer, ensure they are placed flat side down initially, or use toothpicks to secure the layers if they start to separate.
- Serve immediately with a drizzle of balsamic glaze or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for extra flavor.
