Description

This is a simple, no-bake layered dessert featuring crushed Oreos and a creamy filling, perfect for parties or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.3 ounces) Oreo cookies
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 container (12 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 packages (3.9 ounces each) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 package (5.3 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix (optional, for lighter filling)
  • Gummy worms for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush all Oreo cookies until they resemble fine dirt. Set aside about 1 cup of the crushed cookies for topping.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and softened butter together until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until fully combined.
  4. Fold in the thawed whipped topping gently until the mixture is uniform.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes. If using vanilla pudding, mix it in now.
  6. Gently fold the pudding mixture into the cream cheese mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
  7. In a large trifle dish or 9×13 inch pan, layer the ingredients. Start with a layer of crushed Oreos, followed by half of the creamy filling.
  8. Repeat the layers: another layer of crushed Oreos, and top with the remaining creamy filling.
  9. Sprinkle the reserved 1 cup of crushed Oreos over the top layer to resemble fresh dirt.
  10. If using, press gummy worms into the top layer.
  11. Cover the dish and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, before serving.

Notes

  • You can make individual servings in small cups, often called Dirt Cups, by layering the ingredients in clear cups.
  • For the best texture, use real butter, not margarine.
  • If you prefer a richer chocolate flavor, use chocolate milk instead of regular milk when mixing the pudding.
