Description
Make tender, juicy pulled BBQ chicken using your slow cooker. This simple recipe requires minimal effort for a flavorful meal perfect for sandwiches or meal prep.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1 (18 ounce) bottle your favorite BBQ sauce
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts or thighs into the bottom of your slow cooker.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and easily shreds.
- Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
- Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir well to coat it completely with the sauce.
- Cook on warm for an additional 15 minutes to allow the flavors to combine. Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra smoky flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke to the sauce mixture before cooking.
- If the sauce seems too thin after shredding, remove the lid and cook on high for the last 30 minutes to allow some liquid to evaporate.
- This recipe works well for making ahead; store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
