Description

Make easy, crowd-pleasing pigs in a blanket using everything bagel seasoning and crescent roll dough.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8 ounce) package crescent roll dough
  • 1 package (12 ounces) cocktail sausages or mini smoked sausages
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 3 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon cream cheese, softened (optional, for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon milk (optional, for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles. Do not stretch the dough.
  3. Cut each triangle lengthwise into three smaller, thinner strips. You should have about 24 strips total.
  4. Take one cocktail sausage and wrap one dough strip around it, starting at one end and rolling to the other. Pinch the seam to seal the dough around the sausage.
  5. Place the wrapped sausages seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining sausages and dough.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of all the wrapped sausages lightly with the egg wash.
  7. Sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning evenly over the tops of the egg-washed rolls. Press gently so the seasoning adheres.
  8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. If using the glaze, whisk the softened cream cheese and milk together until smooth. Drizzle or brush lightly over the warm pigs in a blanket immediately after removing them from the oven.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute puff pastry for crescent rolls for a flakier texture.
  • For a richer flavor, use smoked cocktail sausages instead of standard hot dogs.
  • If you do not want to use an egg wash, you can lightly brush the dough with melted butter before adding the seasoning.
