Description
Elevate your deviled eggs with decorative toppings and unique presentation ideas for a visually appealing appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large eggs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Paprika for garnish
- Fresh dill for garnish
- Chives, finely chopped for garnish
- Smoked paprika for garnish
- Sriracha for a spicy kick
- Cooked bacon, crumbled for garnish
- Olives, sliced for garnish
- Pickles, finely diced for garnish
Instructions
- Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan. Cover with cold water by 1 inch.
- Bring water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 10-12 minutes.
- Drain hot water and immediately transfer eggs to an ice bath for 5 minutes to stop the cooking process and cool them.
- Gently tap and peel the cooled eggs under cool running water.
- Slice each egg in half lengthwise and carefully remove the yolks. Place the yolks in a small bowl.
- Mash the yolks with a fork until smooth.
- Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, white vinegar, salt, and pepper to the mashed yolks. Mix well until creamy and smooth.
- Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
- Garnish with your preferred toppings, such as paprika, fresh dill, chives, smoked paprika, a dot of sriracha, crumbled bacon, sliced olives, or diced pickles.
- Arrange on a platter and serve immediately, or chill until ready to serve.
Notes
- For perfectly centered yolks, store eggs on their side in the refrigerator for a day before boiling.
- To make piping easier, transfer the yolk mixture to a piping bag with a star tip or a resealable plastic bag with a corner snipped off.
- Experiment with different flavor additions like a pinch of curry powder, a dash of hot sauce, or a sprinkle of garlic powder in the yolk mixture.
