Description

Make this rich, brownie-like fudge pie. It is simple to prepare and results in a warm, gooey chocolate dessert perfect served with ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the pie crust on a baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the unbaked pie crust. The batter will be thick.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted near the edge comes out with moist crumbs attached. The center will remain very soft and gooey.
  7. Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before serving warm.
  8. Serve slices warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • For an Old-Fashioned taste, use dark cocoa powder.
  • You can substitute the pre-made crust with a homemade shortcrust pastry.
  • This pie tastes best when served warm, about 30 minutes after it comes out of the oven.
