Description
Make this rich, brownie-like fudge pie. It is simple to prepare and results in a warm, gooey chocolate dessert perfect served with ice cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the pie crust on a baking sheet.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the unbaked pie crust. The batter will be thick.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted near the edge comes out with moist crumbs attached. The center will remain very soft and gooey.
- Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before serving warm.
- Serve slices warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- For an Old-Fashioned taste, use dark cocoa powder.
- You can substitute the pre-made crust with a homemade shortcrust pastry.
- This pie tastes best when served warm, about 30 minutes after it comes out of the oven.
