Description
Prepare tender, flavorful asparagus coated in garlic butter in just 15 minutes. This is a fast and simple vegetable side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the asparagus by snapping off the tough ends.
- Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt completely.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
- Add the trimmed asparagus to the skillet in a single layer if possible.
- Sauté the asparagus, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes until it reaches your desired tenderness.
- Season with salt and pepper. Stir in the lemon juice, if using.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
- If your asparagus spears are very thick, you may need to add 1-2 minutes to the cooking time.
- To keep the time under 15 minutes, ensure your heat is medium-high and you are actively stirring.
