Description

Make your holiday centerpiece easy and delicious with this Garlic Herb Butter Turkey Breast recipe. This simple preparation ensures a moist, flavorful turkey ready for your special gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (4-5 pound) turkey breast, bone-in or boneless
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (for the pan)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper. Mix well until you have a uniform herb butter.
  3. Pat the turkey breast completely dry using paper towels. This helps the skin crisp.
  4. Gently loosen the skin over the turkey breast, being careful not to tear it.
  5. Spread about two-thirds of the herb butter mixture directly onto the turkey meat under the skin.
  6. Rub the remaining herb butter mixture all over the outside of the turkey skin.
  7. Place the turkey breast in a roasting pan. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  8. Roast until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). This usually takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on size.
  9. Tent the turkey loosely with foil if the skin starts to brown too quickly.
  10. Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
  11. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For best results, make the herb butter ahead of time and keep it chilled until ready to use.
  • If you are using a bone-in breast, cooking time may be slightly longer.
  • Resting the turkey is important; it allows the juices to redistribute, keeping your meat moist.
