Gourmet-style caramel apple slices, perfect for a sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 apples
- 1 bag (14 ounces) caramels
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and dry apples. Cut each apple into 8 wedges. Remove cores.
- Insert a popsicle stick or skewer into the skin side of each apple wedge.
- Unwrap caramels and place in a microwave-safe bowl with milk.
- Microwave on high for 1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and smooth.
- Dip each apple slice into the melted caramel, coating evenly.
- If desired, roll the caramel-coated apple slices in chopped nuts or sprinkle with chocolate chips.
- Place on wax paper and refrigerate until caramel is set, about 15-20 minutes.
Notes
- Use firm apples like Granny Smith, Fuji, or Honeycrisp.
- Ensure apples are completely dry before dipping to help the caramel stick.
- Work quickly when dipping as the caramel will start to set as it cools.
- Store leftover caramel apple slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
