Description
Prepare a flavorful Greek marinade using lemon, olive oil, and herbs to season chicken before cooking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, thyme, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes in a medium bowl.
- Whisk the ingredients together until they are well mixed.
- Place your chicken pieces (breasts, thighs, or skewers) into a large zip-top bag or a non-reactive dish.
- Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are coated.
- Seal the bag or cover the dish.
- Refrigerate the chicken for at least 2 hours, or up to 12 hours for maximum flavor.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade before cooking. Discard any leftover marinade.
- Cook the chicken using your preferred method, such as grilling, baking, or pan-searing.
Notes
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best taste.
- For chicken souvlaki, cut the chicken into 1-inch cubes before marinating.
- If you are using chicken breasts, consider pounding them to an even thickness before marinating for consistent cooking.
