Description

Make this creamy, cold Italian Hoagie Dip for your next party. It captures all the flavors of an Italian sub sandwich in an easy, layered appetizer format.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 ounces thinly sliced provolone cheese, shredded
  • 4 ounces thinly sliced ham, chopped
  • 4 ounces thinly sliced Genoa salami, chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup finely diced tomato
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Mix in the mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper until fully combined. This is your dressing base.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the chopped ham and salami.
  4. In a large, clear serving dish, spread half of the cream cheese mixture evenly across the bottom.
  5. Layer the chopped deli meats over the cream cheese layer.
  6. Sprinkle half of the shredded provolone cheese over the meat layer.
  7. Spread the remaining cream cheese mixture over the provolone layer.
  8. Top with the remaining provolone cheese.
  9. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to blend.
  10. Just before serving, top the dip with the shredded lettuce, diced red onion, diced tomato, and fresh parsley.
  11. Serve cold with crackers, sturdy chips, or bread slices.

Notes

  • You can prepare the cream cheese base and chop the meats one day ahead of time. Assemble the layers, but wait to add the fresh vegetables until right before serving.
  • For a spicier kick, add 1/4 cup of chopped pepperoncini peppers to the meat layer.
  • This dip works well as a chopped sandwich salad; serve it in lettuce cups for a lower-carb option.
