- 1 teaspoon salt

- 12 lasagna noodles
- 16 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Drain off excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, 2 tablespoons parsley, 1 teaspoon basil, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the sauce simmers, cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, 1/4 cup parsley, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
- Spread about 1 cup of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 13×9 inch baking dish.
- Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
- Top with one-third of the mozzarella cheese.
- Spoon about 1.5 cups of meat sauce over the mozzarella.
- Repeat layers: noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, sauce.
- Top with remaining noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil. Bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat sauce.
- If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can blend the crushed tomatoes before adding them to the skillet.
