Description

Make homemade uncrustables for a simple, customizable, and budget-friendly alternative to store-bought versions. These freezer-friendly peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are perfect for quick lunches or snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slices white bread
  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • ½ cup jelly or jam

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients.
  2. Lay out 6 slices of bread on a clean work surface.
  3. Spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter evenly on each of the 6 slices of bread.
  4. Spread 1 tablespoon of jelly or jam evenly on the remaining 6 slices of bread.
  5. Place a jelly-covered slice of bread on top of each peanut butter-covered slice, creating 6 sandwiches.
  6. For each sandwich, use a round cookie cutter or a glass to cut out a circle from the center of the sandwich, pressing firmly to seal the edges.
  7. Remove the crusts.
  8. Place the homemade uncrustables in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour, or until firm.
  9. Transfer the frozen uncrustables to a freezer-safe bag or airtight container.
  10. Store in the freezer for up to 1 month.
  11. To serve, remove from the freezer and let thaw at room temperature for 30–60 minutes, or until soft.

Notes

  • Use any type of bread, peanut butter, and jelly you prefer.
  • For a healthier option, use whole wheat bread and natural peanut butter.
  • Try different fillings like Nutella, cream cheese, or banana slices.
  • Ensure the edges are sealed tightly to prevent fillings from leaking out during thawing.
