Description
Make homemade uncrustables for a quick and easy snack or lunch. These freezer-friendly peanut butter and jelly sandwiches save you money and let you choose your favorite fillings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 slices white or wheat bread
- ½ cup peanut butter (or other nut/seed butter)
- ½ cup jelly or jam
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients.
- Lay out bread slices on a clean surface.
- Spread about 1 tablespoon of peanut butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Spread about 1 tablespoon of jelly on the peanut butter side of half of the bread slices.
- Top the jelly-covered bread with the remaining peanut butter-covered slices, making sandwiches.
- Use a round cookie cutter or an uncrustable maker to cut out circles from each sandwich, pressing firmly to seal the edges.
- Remove the crusts.
- Place the homemade uncrustables in an airtight freezer bag or container.
- Freeze for up to 1 month.
- To eat, remove from the freezer and let thaw at room temperature for 30-60 minutes, or until soft.
Notes
- Use fresh bread for best results; stale bread can crumble.
- Do not overfill the sandwiches, as this can make sealing difficult.
- For extra flavor, lightly toast the bread before spreading the fillings.
- Customize with different nut butters, jams, or even chocolate spread.
- For a fun twist, try different shapes with cookie cutters.
