Description

Make easy, juicy honey garlic chicken skewers perfect for grilling, baking, or air frying. This recipe is quick enough for a weeknight family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, ginger, and black pepper to make the marinade.
  3. Place the cubed chicken into the marinade, toss to coat completely, and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium heat, or preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C), or your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the prepared skewers, leaving a small space between each piece. Discard the remaining marinade.
  6. For Grilling: Grill the skewers for 10-14 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and lightly charred.
  7. For Oven Baking: Arrange skewers on a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway, until cooked through.
  8. For Air Frying: Place skewers in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if necessary). Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway, until cooked through.
  9. Serve the chicken skewers immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, brush a little extra honey mixture onto the skewers during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • If you prefer, you can substitute chicken thighs for breasts, but adjust cooking time slightly.
  • Serve these skewers over rice or with a side of steamed vegetables.
