Description
Make this fast and flavorful honey garlic shrimp in one skillet. The sauce creates a sticky, sweet, and savory glaze perfect for a weeknight meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes (if using). Pour this mixture into the skillet. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk the cornstarch and water until smooth to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the simmering sauce while stirring constantly. Cook for 1 minute until the sauce thickens into a glaze.
- Stir in the butter until melted and fully incorporated.
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the shrimp completely in the honey garlic glaze. Cook for 1 minute to heat through.
- Remove from heat. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a dash of sriracha with the soy sauce.
- If you prefer a thicker glaze, use 1.5 teaspoons of cornstarch instead of 1 teaspoon.
- This shrimp pairs well served over steamed white rice or noodles.
