Description

Make fun and delicious Hot Chocolate Bombs, perfect for a warm treat or a thoughtful homemade gift. These chocolate spheres hold cocoa mix and marshmallows, melting into a rich cup of hot chocolate when hot milk is added.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz Chocolate (milk, dark, or white), chopped or chips
  • Hot Cocoa Mix (enough for 6 bombs)
  • Mini Marshmallows (enough for 6 bombs)
  • Optional: Sprinkles or cocoa powder for decoration

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring until smooth.
  2. Prepare your silicone sphere molds by wiping them clean and dry.
  3. Spoon a small amount of melted chocolate into the bottom of each mold half.
  4. Use the back of a spoon or a pastry brush to spread the chocolate up the sides of the mold, creating a full shell. Ensure the rim is thick.
  5. Chill the chocolate shells in the refrigerator until firm, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Gently remove the hardened chocolate shells from the molds. You should have two halves for each bomb.
  7. Fill half of the shells with a spoonful of hot cocoa mix and a few mini marshmallows.
  8. Warm a small plate or baking sheet by placing it near a warm oven or running hot water over it.
  9. Take an empty chocolate half and gently press its rim onto the warm surface for a few seconds until the edge is slightly melted and smooth.
  10. Immediately press the melted rim onto the rim of a filled half to seal the two halves together, creating a sphere. Work quickly.
  11. Decorate the seams or the top of the bombs immediately with extra melted chocolate drizzles or sprinkles before they set.
  12. Allow the finished Hot Chocolate Bombs to set completely at room temperature or in a cool place.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best melting and setting results.
  • If the chocolate seizes (gets grainy), add a teaspoon of neutral oil or shortening to smooth it out.
  • For a festive touch, use candy melts instead of real chocolate for easier handling.
  • To use, place one bomb in a mug and pour 8-10 ounces of hot milk over it. Stir well.
