Description

A savory brunch cocktail using kimchi brine for a spicy, umami flavor base, similar to a Bloody Mary.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Vodka or Soju
  • 3 oz Tomato Juice
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 oz Kimchi Brine (from jar)
  • 2 dashes Hot Sauce (optional)
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • Garnish: Celery stalk, small piece of kimchi

Instructions

  1. Chill a highball or pint glass.
  2. Combine vodka or soju, tomato juice, lemon juice, kimchi brine, hot sauce (if using), and black pepper in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake briefly until well-chilled. Do not over-shake, as this can dilute the drink too much.
  4. Strain the mixture into the chilled glass filled with fresh ice.
  5. Garnish with a celery stalk and a small piece of kimchi threaded onto a cocktail pick.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of kimchi brine based on the saltiness and spice level of your specific kimchi. Start with less and add more to taste.
  • For a richer flavor, use a high-quality, low-sodium tomato juice.
  • If you prefer a gin base, use a London Dry style gin for its botanical notes to complement the spice.
