Description
Prepare simple, flavorful chicken skewers seasoned with traditional Egyptian spices, suitable for a themed gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 lemon, juiced
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before use.
- In a medium bowl, combine the olive oil, cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to form a paste.
- Add the cubed chicken to the spice mixture. Pour the lemon juice over the chicken. Toss until every piece is evenly coated.
- Marinate the chicken for a minimum of 1 hour in the refrigerator, or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the prepared skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.
- Grill the skewers for 4 to 6 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice char marks.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately.
Notes
- Serve these skewers with a side of rice pilaf or a simple cucumber and tomato salad for a complete meal.
- For a smoky flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika to the spice mix.
