Description

A recipe for crispy tater tot skewers loaded with cheese, bacon, and toppings, perfect for parties or game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (32 ounce) bag frozen tater tots
  • 8 wooden or metal skewers
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Bake the tater tots for 15 minutes, or until they start to become lightly golden.
  4. Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven.
  5. Thread 5 to 6 partially cooked tater tots onto each skewer. You should have 8 skewers total.
  6. Return the skewers to the oven and bake for another 10 to 12 minutes, until the tots are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the skewers from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the tots on each skewer.
  8. Return the skewers to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes, just until the cheese melts.
  9. Remove the skewers from the oven and let them cool slightly for 5 minutes.
  10. Top each skewer with crumbled bacon, a dollop of sour cream, and a sprinkle of fresh chives. Drizzle with ranch dressing if you are using it.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can cook the tots in an air fryer before skewering and baking.
  • You can assemble the skewers with the cooked tots and cheese ahead of time, then bake just before serving.
  • For a variation, substitute the toppings with chili and shredded Monterey Jack cheese for chili cheese tot skewers.
