Description
A recipe for crispy tater tot skewers loaded with cheese, bacon, and toppings, perfect for parties or game days.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (32 ounce) bag frozen tater tots
- 8 wooden or metal skewers
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
- 1/4 cup ranch dressing (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the tater tots for 15 minutes, or until they start to become lightly golden.
- Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven.
- Thread 5 to 6 partially cooked tater tots onto each skewer. You should have 8 skewers total.
- Return the skewers to the oven and bake for another 10 to 12 minutes, until the tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the skewers from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the tots on each skewer.
- Return the skewers to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes, just until the cheese melts.
- Remove the skewers from the oven and let them cool slightly for 5 minutes.
- Top each skewer with crumbled bacon, a dollop of sour cream, and a sprinkle of fresh chives. Drizzle with ranch dressing if you are using it.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can cook the tots in an air fryer before skewering and baking.
- You can assemble the skewers with the cooked tots and cheese ahead of time, then bake just before serving.
- For a variation, substitute the toppings with chili and shredded Monterey Jack cheese for chili cheese tot skewers.
